Welcome to the Online Help File for the Channels v 1.0 Macro for CorelDRAW.

NOTE: This macro will only run on one machine (unless you buy multiple macros). Since this macro is already priced so low that it's almost free, This means if you buy the macro now, and want to run it on a brand new machine or different machine after receiving your first activation code, you must buy it again. So, think carefully about which system you want to run it on, because each macro you receive will be locked to one system only - forever.

What is Channels? The macro shows a panel with all the color channels currently used in the document. Views can be enabled or disabled together.

Who is Channels for?

For anyone who wants to understand how their artwork relates to color separations. You can quickly check process inks used, as well as any Pantone colors used directly inside the CorelDRAW work area.
What is displayed using Channels?

Primarily, CMYK channels (Process color inks). Spot colors will also appear in the panel separately. Only channels that are currently used will be shown in the panel (press the Refresh button in the panel to recalculate the inks being used).

Other color models (RGB, Grayscale, Lab, etc.) will be separated to CMYK channels in accordance with the selected profile in the Color Management settings.

Will the panel show the color components of bitmaps?

Yes. The color model of the image (RGB, Grayscale, Lab, etc.) will be separated to CMYK channels in accordance with the selected profile in the Color Management settings.

Will Channels show overprints?

Yes, put the display mode into "Enhanced with Overprints" (CorelDRAW's View Menu).
Can I view with black always overprinted? No. Maybe in the next version...

Is it possible to move, create and delete objects when the panel is shown? Can I work at any zoom level?

Yes to both. Also, if you disable the view of any channels, you are free to work with the image without any restrictions. However, we don't recommend keeping the panel open constantly. CorelDraw has to work extra hard to recalculate colors being used.

If I use spot colors, why are they not shown in the panel?Press the Refresh button in the Macro, then they'll appear.
How do I disable a single channel? Also, how do I quickly disable all channels except for only one?

To disable or enable the channel just click on eye symbol next to the chosen color. By default, all channels are included. If you click on an inactive eye symbol while holding down the Alt key, it displays only that channel. So, to quickly cycle through the different separations, try this:

Disable one channel you want to preview.

Press Alt + Left-Click on the channel. You'll only see that channel. Keep Alt held as you click on other disabled channels, and you'll see those by themselves.

I may have disabled channels incorrectly. For example, clicking on black disables all colors. What's wrong?

The panel may require you to check your Color Management settings (Tools | Color Management). In the bottom left corner you see "Color mode used for effects:" choose CMYK. Save these settings by clicking "OK".
The colors beside my CMYK channels look funny...

If the standard colors do not look like the usual CMYK hues, such as these examples:

Press and hold Alt, then click on the "refresh macro" icon. The spotlist will be rebuilt.

The message "Printer paper orientation does not match one or more document pages..." appears. How can I stop this from warning me all the time?

The macro asks for the names of channels based on your print properties. Regardless of your answer, channels will continue to function normally.

If this constant warning annoys you, just go to print options (Tools | Options | Global | Printing) and choose the line "Page Orientation Prompt" select "Off - don't change orientation". Confirm the changes by clicking "OK".
