Sancho Drop Shadow 4 (X3/X4/X5)

Now Adapted for CorelDRAW X5.

Version 4 of this macro requires a new purchase for all new and past customers.

Here's a macro that offers presets, and advanced functions.

NEW in version 3.6.0:

1. Options Dialog: You may specify custom DPI for your shadows. Handy for sign makers who don't need 300 DPI
2. The macro can generate RGB, Grayscale in addition to CMYK shadows.
3. Each rendered shadow now retains special parameters in the shadow itself!!! The "Load Drop Shadow settings" button loads these parameters from an existing shadow (provided they exist - works only with shadows created with this version!!!)
4. the code is optimized, and runs even faster than before.

NEW in version 4.0.0:
Macro adapted for CorelDRAW X5.
Minor changes in the interface and code.
To use the macro does not require a library MSCOMCTL.OCX.
The Save button allows you to not only rename the selected preset, but change the settings stored in it, replacing them with current.

Small changes in the macro security module.

In the choice of units added item "from document", the choice of which values will be taken from the document. In the choice of units added item "from document", the choice of which values will be taken from the document.

If you use the macro in X5, you can set "Use Document Resolution", which allows the use of DPI settings of the document to create a new bitmap shadows.

It renders smooth CMYK bitmap drop shadows at 300 or 72 DPI (72 DPI is handy for large format sign designers).

The rendered result can be automatically set to "multiply merge mode" at the same time (recommended).

Notice how smooth the edges of the shadows are.

There is also the ability to apply vector shadows. Also included is the handy bonus "DS2" - it finds and separates "live" drop shadows.

If you prefer "manually made" shadows compared to Corels "live" shadows, this macro will dramatically speed up the process.

Click on a shape or some text, and you have a bitmap shadow in one step that will output reliably. Sometimes CorelDRAW's live shadows do not render properly, esp. when placed over a Powerclip.

When you save a preset with this macro, it means something.

Corel's.... no. because the final visual results look different, depending on the size of the shape. To us, the point of presets are to deliver something you expect - the same level of depth.

"Won't my CorelDRAW files be huge with pre-rendered shadows?" Read this:

This macro speeds up the process for making make nice shadows every time - that output reliably. The only downside is that the shadows are not "live" anymore like Corel's. So the file size increases. For many...  it's still worth it though.

There is a 72 DPI "preview" button (the button with the eye on it) which shows a 72 DPI draft view of the how the rendered shadow will generally look. This speeds up feathering adjustments. The create shadow button renders the "real  300 DPI one". That's what I'd been using.

I'd thought that if one uses a lot of shadows in a project, thirty 72 DPI CMYK files should add a much smaller overhead to the Draw file's size than 300 DPI ones. Remember that all shadows are rendered as 32 bit CMYK images.

NEWS FLASH:

As a test, here are 16 separate shadows made in X3 with this macro, I was shocked to see the draw file is only 140k (the image above with 16 red squares). They are all at 300 DPI too! Wow, even I'm impressed - however, this is really a testament to Corel's engineering to reduce the CorelDraw file size.

Well... there goes the potential theory that having pre-rendered shadows in a document adds some great amount to the file size, compared to Corel's "live" shadows.

NOTE: This macro will only run on one machine (unless you buy multiple macros). Since this macro is already priced so low that it's almost free,  This means if you buy the macro now, and want to run it on a brand new machine or different machine after receiving your first activation code, you must buy it again. So, think carefully about which system you want to run it on, because each macro you receive will be locked to one system only - forever. Your product installation key may take up to 36 hours to arrive, but is often much less.

Compatible with CorelDRAW X3/X4/X5
